Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum launches 50th anniversary year

Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum is set to celebrate its 50th-anniversary celebration, marking the Museum’s opening in 1974. The festivities will begin with the Bootlegger’s Ball on February 10th, running from 6 to 10 p.m.

In honor of the Art Deco design of the museum, recognized as a National Historic Landmark and the former international headquarters of the Auburn Automobile Company, attendees are welcomed to toast to the essence of Prohibition and sway to the tunes of a live band performing music reminiscent of that era.

The night promises an array of delights, including dancing, delectable heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar offering classic drinks and period-themed cocktails, a photo booth, and unfettered access to the museum throughout the evening.

The Bootlegger’s Ball is a collaborative effort with the Eckhart Public Library, featuring an exhibit delving into Auburn’s history during the Prohibition era.

Expressing enthusiasm for the event, Brandon J. Anderson, the museum’s executive director, and CEO, stated, “The Bootlegger’s Ball is an exciting and enjoyable way to kick off the new year, paying homage to history and celebrating the repeal of Prohibition.”

He further invited everyone to join the celebration and participate in the upcoming year of diverse programming and exhibits commemorating the 50th anniversary of the museum’s opening.

While period attire is encouraged, attendees don’t need to relish the festivities of the Bootlegger’s Ball.

Tickets, essential for this 21+ event, are priced at $40 for individuals and $75 for couples. They can be purchased online at http://www.automobilemuseum.org or in person at the museum located at 1600 Wayne St.
