Spending time in Auburn, Indiana almost guarantees new discoveries about classic cars, particularly at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, a fixture in the community for fifty years.
Recently, the museum commemorated its 50th anniversary with a lively celebration. Nearly 2,000 visitors flocked to the museum, enjoying its impressive array of cars and exhibits adorned in festive decorations.
“We arrived at 7:30 AM, and there were already 350 cars lined up in the parking lot,” remarked Brandon Anderson, the museum’s Executive Director.
People from across the nation visit Auburn to delve into the rich history of Duesenberg technology, showcased since the museum’s founding on July 6, 1974. The museum, housed in the original administration headquarters of the Auburn Automobile Company, stands as a National Historic Landmark.
Anderson emphasized the museum’s ongoing commitment to preservation and expansion. Current efforts include extensive restoration projects to safeguard artifacts and enhance visitor experiences. Plans are also underway to expand programming, introduce new collections, and showcase existing ones nationwide.
Looking ahead, the museum will host a special 50th Anniversary Celebration concert featuring the Auburn Community Band on July 25.
