Auburn was once home to 12 automobile manufacturers, most notably the Auburn Automobile Company. ACD Festival
The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival is an annual event held in Auburn celebrating the legacy of the Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg automobile brands. Known for its rich history and classic cars, the festival features a variety of activities, including the parade of classics, cruise-ins, live music and a collector car auction presented by Worldwide Auctioneers. Enthusiasts and collectors from around the world gather to admire beautifully restored vehicles and participate in festivities that highlight the craftsmanship and innovation of these iconic American automotive brands. The event not only showcases vintage automobiles but also fosters a sense of community and appreciation for automotive heritage.
History and Relics That Still Survive
While automobile manufacturing has long since left the city of Auburn, many of the original manufacturing locations still stand today. In addition to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum and the National Auto & Truck Museum, where Auburns and Cords were produced, several other historic sites can be visited. Rieke Packaging on West 7th Street in Auburn was originally the McIntyre Company, where Imp Cycle Cars were manufactured. On North Indiana Boulevard, a long white building on the west side of the street was once the Zimmerman Company, where early motorized carriages and cars were built. Finally, an original building of the Eckhart Carriage Company is located next to NATMUS and can be toured as part of the museum’s admission.
