Garrett High School in Garrett, Indiana has a building trades program that gives students practical experience and on-the-job training. Currently, over 150 high school students are participating in a career development program centered on construction, manufacturing, and welding trades at Garrett High School. While these students experience it as a regular day at school, for the educators and administrators guiding the program, it represents a groundbreaking approach that has garnered national attention. This innovative initiative begins as early as fifth grade in the Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community School District, where students explore construction and manufacturing through specialized academic programs. Guided by local race car builder Gary Babineau, these students are embarking on a journey of craftsmanship and dedication.
