Each week has exciting activities, including outdoor games, creative projects, and plenty of opportunities to explore and play. Campers will stay active, make memories, and enjoy time with friends in a safe and engaging environment.

Babies & Books is a storytime for children ages 0-2 accompanied by a caregiver.

Join us in the Close Community Room on the upper level of the Main Library on Fridays from 10:00 – 10:30 am for songs, rhymes, board books and more!

This summer, we’re adding one Saturday session of Babies & Books each month! June’s session will be on the 28th, also from 10:00 – 10:30 am. We’ve had some feedback indicating that a Saturday Babies & Books could be more convenient for some of our patrons, so we’re testing out the idea. If people want more Babies & Books, who are we to argue.

Whichever day you come to Babies & Books, it will be a great time to bond with your little one while reading a board book together and learning some new songs and fingerplays!

Do you ever wish you could go on an adult field trip? Well, Eckhart Public Library and Indiana State Museum and Historical Sites can make your wishes come true!

Join us for a bus trip on Friday, June 13th, to Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva, Indiana. There, we’ll learn about and celebrate Indiana author, naturalist, and pioneering film producer, Gene Stratton-Porter.

We will meet at Eckhart Public Library and depart on a Green Bus promptly at 10:00 am. There will be a group tour of Stratton-Porter’s cabin at 1:00 pm, along with freedom to explore the site on your own.

Transportation and tickets for the museum will be covered by the Library. Attendees will be on their own for lunch.

There are a very limited number of seats available, so we recommend that you register early (see link in Tickets).

Come spend part of your day at the beech (tree, that is!) and have fun playing with loose parts! Loose parts are ordinary, open-ended materials that can be played with in a variety of ways. Loose parts play can deepen focus and concentration as children explore, manipulate, take apart, and combine items.

We will have all kinds of materials available in the Library Park for kids to play with on Friday, June 13th, from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. This will be a great opportunity for children to let their imaginations run free and see where their play leads them!

The Friends of Eckhart Public Library will hold a book and media sale at the Willennar Administrative Annex on the second Saturday of each month from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Saturday Stories is a family storytime designed for children (preschool – 3rd grade) and their grown-ups. Each month will have a different theme and stories related to that theme will be featured. Guest readers from the community will join us to read some favorite books, and we’ll also do a fun activity based on that month’s theme.

Saturday Stories will meet on the second Saturday of each month in the Activity Room and the Secret Garden from 9:30 – 10:30 am.

People love stories and dogs, and dogs love people who read them stories! Dog Tales is your chance to read to a new four-legged friend. All participating pups are great listeners and very patient. They’re the perfect audience for any new readers that would like to practice reading out loud.

Dog Tales takes place on the second Saturday of each month in the Secret Garden on the lower level at the Main Library. The pups will be here next on June 14th at 10:30 am.

Get up close and see under the hood of history during our Demonstration Days. This year we will bring out our 1935 Auburn 851 Speedster (May 10), a 1937 Cord 812 Supercharged Phaeton (June 14), and a 1932 Duesenberg Model J Speedster (July 12) for these special days so our guests can engage with our staff and collections in a more personalized way.

On this day our Curator, Sam Grate, will choose an Auburn from our collection and talk about the car’s history and importance. Then he will start the car up and drive it around our museum campus to show the car in action. We encourage guests to get close, check out under the hood, take pictures, and ask questions!

This event is weather permitting and will take place in our Education and Exhibit Plaza across from the museum. There is no make up day if it rains.

All Demonstration Days begin at 12pm and are included with museum admission.

This Father’s Day, give dad an unforgettable ride in a classic car from the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile museum. Join us on Sunday, June 15 from 1 to 4 PM at the Education and Exhibit Plaza.

Take your dad on a ride in a classic car from our museum! Staff members and volunteers of the museum will be offering rides in automobiles selected from our own collection as well as the personal vehicles of our volunteers for a free will donation. All members of the community are encouraged and welcome to join. This is a great way for children to give their fathers a once-in-a-life time gift, or for fathers to share their passion with the kids.

Singo is a new and exciting musical spin on the traditional game of Bingo. Instead of listening for a number, players are listening to their favorite music.
Each player receives a free Singo card printed with the titles of popular songs. While Singo randomly plays song clips of “the good parts”, players can sing along and mark matching song titles on their cards.
Singo will be held inside the winery.

Jane Feyl, a Genealogy Specialist at the Willennar Genealogy Center, will give a 30-minute presentation on the artist Henry Isaac Stiefel Caliga in the Close Community Room at the Main Library on Wednesday, June 18th, at 2:00 pm.

Caliga, born in Auburn in 1857, studied in Munich, New York, and Boston. He painted portraits and landscapes, and Eckhart Public Library is fortunate to have one of his paintings, Lady in Pink, on display.

This Tender Land

Strawberries Around the Fountain returns to the Library Park on Thursday, June 19th, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. This annual event is hosted by the Friends of Eckhart Public Library and is their major fundraiser of the year.

The Friends will be selling homemade strawberry shortcake, strawberry sundaes, and strawberry shakes for $10 each to fund the programming of Eckhart Public Library. There will be a limited supply of dairy free and gluten free offerings as well. 100% of the profits will be given to the Library to fund a wide range of exciting and meaningful programs and literacy initiatives.

Strawberries Around the Fountain returns to the Library Park on Thursday, June 19th, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. This annual event is hosted by the Friends of Eckhart Public Library and is their major fundraiser of the year.

The Friends will be selling homemade strawberry shortcake, strawberry sundaes, and strawberry shakes for $10 each to fund the programming of Eckhart Public Library. There will be a limited supply of dairy free and gluten free offerings as well. 100% of the profits will be given to the Library to fund a wide range of exciting and meaningful programs and literacy initiatives.

All cars should enter at the corner of Cedar and 7th Street (main gate), beginning at 5:00pm – no early entry permitted. Spots available on a first come, first served basis. (No saving of spaces.) Early entries and/or those vehicles parked illegally before the event begins may be ticketed. Trailers, solicitation, oversized and commercial vehicles are prohibited without prior ACD Festival approval.
